MyMonthlyCar Turns Idle Dealer Inventory Into Monthly Rental Income

Car dealership lots are full of depreciating metal. Igor Dobrianskyi saw that as a business model. His startup, MyMonthlyCar, wants to turn idle used-car inventory into month-to-month rental revenue for dealers and a flexible option for people who need a car for a few months, not a few days. The company is bootstrapped, testing with a handful of dealers, and heading to TechCrunch Disrupt's Startup Battlefield 200.
The gap MyMonthlyCar is chasing
Dobrianskyi's pitch is simple: lots of used cars sit on dealership lots losing value, while people who need a car for a few months face limited and expensive options. He cites 76,000 dealerships in the United States as the potential supply base. MyMonthlyCar only rents used cars on a month-to-month basis, with no short-term rentals. The twist is that it also gives dealerships a rent-to-own funnel, so a renter could eventually become a buyer. That dual outcome is the real hook: dealers get yield on inventory today and a possible sale tomorrow.
How the money works
MyMonthlyCar does not charge dealerships to list cars on its platform. Instead, it takes 10% of each transaction from the dealer and a separate 10% fee from the customer. That two-sided model keeps onboarding friction low for dealers while building revenue per rental. The startup has signed seven dealerships to test the service and is working with an insurance broker to finalize its own insurance program, which would let customers choose among coverage types. Insurance is the key gate: Dobrianskyi said the No. 1 question from dealers was about insurance and liability coverage.
The team, the traction, and the road ahead
MyMonthlyCar is registered in Delaware and based in Florida. It was co-founded by Dobrianskyi, CPO Kostiantyn Gitko, and CTO Vadym Zotov, all originally from Ukraine. Dobrianskyi previously owned a car rental company in Ukraine and launched SizeCar, a peer-to-peer car marketplace that spread to 40 European cities. The startup is bootstrapped and has not raised venture capital, but plans a seed round to hire developers and build an AI tool to help dealers identify which cars are best to rent at any given time. First-year targets: 100 dealerships, 2,000 monthly rentals, and $300,000 in revenue, with a five-year goal of $42 million.
